Bennett Zier

Senior Vice President, Market Manager

Bennett Zier is the Senior Vice President and Market Manager at Entercom Virginia, a position he assumed in 2011. Entercom is the #1 creator of live, original, local audio content in the United States. In this role, Zier oversees 13 radio stations in the commonwealth, and in Hampton Roads; these include 2WD 101.3 (WWDE-FM), 94.9 The Point (WPTE-FM), 95.7 R&B (WVKL-FM), K94 (WPTE-HD2) and Z104 (WNVZ-FM), along with their respective digital platforms.

The company reaches over 100 million people each week through its premier collection of highly rated, award winning radio stations, digital platforms and live events as well as integrated marketing solutions.

Zier began his career in 1980 for CBS Radio in New York, holding several positions including Vice President of Sales. In 1989, he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager for CBS Radio in Boston. In 1992, Zier started a new radio group in Washington D.C., which eventually became Clear Channel Communications in 1999, where he served as Executive Vice President. Zier then helped create Red Zebra Broadcasting, owned by the Washington Redskins, from 2005 to 2007, where he served as the founding CEO and President. Zier later moved to New York to become CEO of Air America Media from 2008 until 2011.

Zier has received numerous professional awards, including Entercom’s President Award in 2012 and Clear Channel’s Executive of the Year Award in 2002. He was also named one of the Top 50 Radio Executives in America 5 times, and has been nominated for the Radio Advertising Bureau’s “Radio Wayne Award” for Top Market Manager, Radio Ink “Best Managers in Radio Award” and numerous Marconi Awards, including two nominations in 2018.

Zier is a board member for numerous boards and councils, including Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and has been active with The Navy Seal Foundation, Hampton Roads Autobody Association (HRAA), Alzheimer’s Association, Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training and The National Foundation, among others. Zier has been recognized for his charitable work, including Clear Channel Care’s Public Service Award in 2002 and 2003, as well as a Stella Adler Corporate Award in 2009 for outstanding commitment and contributions to the betterment of the New York City community.
